Enhanced by the addition of a contemporary, glass fronted extension, a magnificent three bedroom detached bungalow on one level affording open outlooks across the lawned grounds opposite the front and the Campsie Fells at the rear. Bailie Drive has long been considered one of Bearsden’s more sought after addresses offering high levels of privacy with homes only on one side of the drive and directly facing expansive lawned grounds. The home has undergone an extensive programme of refurbishment and extension by our clients and sympathetically offers an attractive balance of traditional features alongside more contemporary and modern designed elements and fittings. Bailie Drive is situated within the Mosshead district of Bearsden within the catchment of Mosshead Primary School and Bearsden Academy and is ideal for the park and local beauty spot of Kilmardinny Loch located just beyond the end of Stockiemuir Avenue and is a short distance from Bearsden Ski Club and nearby sports centres, golf clubs and the wide array of amenities on offer within Bearsden Cross including train station with frequent service to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
This charming detached bungalow offers six principal apartments on one level and is the only property of this design to be found on Bailie Drive. It is finished to an uncompromising specification which is immediately evident on entering the expansive entrance hall where treated wooden flooring continues throughout much of the home. The character continues in the lounge featuring three separate windows facing the lawned grounds opposite, further wooden flooring, a focal point fireplace (where the owners have capped off the gas supply) and astragalled timber and glass French doors open to the dining room and a further door returns you to the hall. The owners have added a stylish sitting room extension with a vaulted ceiling and floor to ceiling glass at the far end including broad sliding doors opening to an area of decking and the dining kitchen is complete with cream Shaker style units, breakfast bar area, under unit lighting, integrated appliances and opens to a matching utility/ breakfast room with sliding doors to a larger timber deck with sunken lighting. There are three well sized bedrooms, bedroom one enjoying dual aspects with a bay window to the front and fitted wardrobes, several storage cupboards, a shower room with mains shower and a separate bathroom. There is a brick storage shed at the rear as well as access to a crouch height cellar beneath the property. On arrival, the front garden is laid to lawn complemented by a periphery of plants and shrubs and a choice of seating area includes a slabbed patio and timber deck. The gravel drive provides off street parking for several vehicles and the principal rear garden is also lawned with a larger patio, a raised timber deck with lighting which is an ideal platform from which to enjoy the views and the gardens enjoy high levels of screening bordered by timber fencing. What we love about our house
21 Bailie Drive has been a well loved family home for us for forty years. One of the first things that ‘sold’ it to us was the large open field to the front lined with ornamental cherry trees! The views to Dumgoyne to the rear are also worth mentioning! We have extended our home over the years to suit our needs and are now leaving our lovely all on the level bungalow but are happy to pass it on to the next family who we know will enjoy this spacious and bright home! Be prepared for a lovely spring and summer garden!
Since the mid 1800's, Bearsden grew steadily due to its new rail links to Glasgow and today it is firmly established as one of the most desirable and indeed affluent areas to live in Scotland. With such a diverse range of amenities on offer, Bearsden and Milngavie residents enjoy a wide selection of shops and supermarkets, with Marks and Spencer, Waitrose, Asda and Tesco all found locally. There are numerous coffee shops and bars in the area and a number of restaurants cater for every taste.
The area boasts bowling and tennis clubs, sports centres and no fewer than seven golf courses, all within ten minutes' drive. There is even an outdoor dry ski slope! For those who love the outdoors, Bearsden and Milngavie have a number of picturesque parks and outdoor spaces, with the start of the West Highland Way found in the centre of Milngavie. Mugdock Country Park is nearby and some of Scotland's finest scenery is only a short drive away.
There are a number of excellent nursery and primary schools in the area, with the highly regarded independent schools of The High School of Glasgow and Glasgow Academy having their junior schools nearby. Bearsden Academy and Boclair Academy are consistently high performers and offer secondary education in the state sector. Four train stations serve the area with direct services to both Glasgow and Edinburgh, numerous bus routes into the city centre and an international airport only fifteen to twenty minutes' drive away, Bearsden is a hard act to follow!
