What we love about our house
The flat itself is in a brilliant location in Stockbridge with every amenity within walking distance. The excellent bus service is within minutes from the house and is an excellent way to get around both the city centre and beyond. With the parks close by and the river walk on the doorstep it is a wonderful place to explore. It has been a well loved home for over 50 years to one family. The neighbours in Carlton Street have been unique in that they have become friends. It is a home that will suit anyone be they any age.
Stockbridge, once an outlying village to Edinburgh, was incorporated into the city during the 19th century and sits as a suburb in the north of the city, bordered by New Town and Comely Bank. It is approximately 1.5 miles from the city centre, with convenient bus links to the centre of Edinburgh and across the city.
Stockbridge was once voted the best Scottish place to settle down in the Sunday Times Best Places to Live in Britain guide. It retains a village feel with bustling cobbled streets and classic architecture, boasting a number of bars, restaurants and independent shops. Stockbridge Primary School has lots of after school clubs on offer for kids.
The Water of Leith that runs through the area offers up beautiful walks, as does the nearby Inverleith Park and The Royal Botanic Gardens. You are also not far from The National Gallery of Modern Art and its world class collections, also set in beautiful parkland.
