If you have missed the annual Tryst Festival that just ended (14 – 29 May 2016) make sure you put it in your calendar for next year. A local tradition since the 18th century, the Falkirk Trysts used to be the biggest cattle market in Scotland. According to The Tryst Festival website, At their height they were a sensational sight with over 150,000 cattle, sheep, and horses arriving from all corners of Scotland to find buyers from throughout the UK. These eventually declined with the advent of the railways until all that remained were the annual sideshows and fair.
