Would You Move to The Country Just to Own a Home?

For many people, it’s a lifelong ambition to, some day, become a homeowner. But as many get comfortable living in the area where they rent, the thought of moving further afield in order to buy a home can appear to be a daunting prospect. And yet, according to a recent poll of private renters, half of tenants across the UK would consider a move to the country in order to buy their own house.

The poll, conducted by the National Landlords Association, surveyed 941 respondents and found that 46% of tenants in Scotland would relocate or would consider relocating in order to buy a house.

Richard Lambert, CEO of the National Landlords Association, commented on the poll results. He said:

“Homeownership is out of reach for so many people, so the idea of upping sticks and moving to a new town or city in order to buy their own home is becoming more and more appealing.”

And as interest rates remain at an all-time low, and government back schemes such as the Help to Buy ISA remain on offer, there have never been more incentives available in recent years that aid potential first time buyers get onto the property ladder.
