Unique Homes: Station Road, Rhu

High Laggary House is a most impressive Victorian detached home that was built around 1863. In a prominent position towards the top end of Station Road in the beautiful conservation village of Rhu, the house extends to over 2500 square feet and it combines a high-end specification along with many traditional features.
Over the past few years the house has been sympathetically extended to the rear and with the addition of a simply stunning double height conservatory (with ceiling lantern) to the side of the house.

The accommodation is perfect for the larger family, with a lovely outer porch leading into a large reception hall. There are two large main public rooms, a double height conservatory with mezzanine level offering study space (with a feature spiral staircase), an exceptional dining sized kitchen with “Aga” and patio doors out to the side gardens, utility room, downstairs double bedroom with adjacent shower room and a three further double bedrooms upstairs (with the master having a contemporary ensuite shower room). Finally, there is a large family bathroom.

The house sits in beautiful gardens that are entered by twin wrought iron gates with a lit gravelled driveway leading up to parking at the front and side of the house and to a garage block that incorporates two store rooms. There is a large terraced patio sitting area taking in lovely views and enjoying all day long sunshine, with further lawned areas to the front and on either side of the house as well as a lovely patio area off the kitchen. Mature trees and bushes feature throughout the grounds.

Located at the top of Station Road, the property sits in south facing gardens that enjoy aspects across Rhu and the Gare Loch. The property enjoys a peaceful setting, combining country living yet only a two mile drive from the centre of Helensburgh where there is a wide selection of amenities on offer. The coastal village of Rhu itself is synonymous with outdoor living, with great sailing on the River Clyde and the Gare Loch and the village is surrounded by beautiful countryside and perfect for those who enjoy this style of life.

There is a village primary school, a post office, local hotel and general store in Rhu, as well as being home to the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club. Glasgow is within easy commuting distance as is the International Airport via the Erskine Bridge. Loch Lomond is only a short distance away and offers some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery.

Travelling from Clyde Property’s Helensburgh office on West Princes Street, turn right and after passing through Colquhoun Square, turn left onto James Street and continue down onto the shore road (West Clyde Street). Turn right and continue along the shore road, leaving Helensburgh continuing into Rhu. After passing the Rhu Marina which is on the left, turn right into Pier Road and continue up the hill. When you arrive at the mini roundabout turn right onto Station Road and continue up to almost the very top of the hill where access to the property is on the left hand side through twin wrought iron gates. High Laggary is clearly visible on the railings.
