Braeholm is an exclusive development of just 12 luxury bespoke two and three bedroom apartments located in the highly sought after sea side town of Helensburgh. (see more details here)
Built in 1837 by celebrated Scottish architect William Leiper, Braeholm is an outstanding testament to the design of the period. Leiper was responsible for striking designs, his most famous being the Templeton’s Carpet Factory on Glasgow Green. His works are part of the Arts and Crafts Movement and the Gothic Revival style. Originally erected as a private residence, the building has had several changes of use over the years and was in use recently as a maternity hospital and then a residential facility and community support centre for Aggie Weston’s Royal Sailors Mission. Notables born in Braeholm include artist Stephen Conroy, who along with Peter Howson are part of the “New Glasgow Boys” who came to prominence in the 1980’s. The entrance hall will feature art of the New Glasgow boys and Helensburgh artists in the style of a mini gallery.
We had a chat with PANACEA Property’s Operations Manager, Ross McMillan, representing the team behind the development of the former maternity hospital Braeholm, located in upper Helensburgh.
Helensburgh is a fantastic location that offers a variety of reasons why it’s such a desired place to call home. Whether it be the great selection of local eateries, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities or whether it’s the short commute to Glasgow City Centre, Glasgow Airport or it’s close proximity to Loch Lomond and all that it offers, Helensburgh has the relaxed and tranquil feel of somewhere far more remote than what it actually is.
One of our Directors also grew up in Helensburgh and has a soft spot for it!
Although he wasn’t born in the former maternity hospital, Braeholm is still a renowned building in the area which he remembered well. The well celebrated artist Stephen Conroy was actually born in Braeholm and the grand communal entrance will feature some of his art in a mini gallery setting. We felt it would be a great place for people to live and the development provides a range of properties to suit varying requirements. The views overlooking the Clyde from the double height windows are absolutely stunning.
The development is made up of just 12 luxury 2 & 3 bedroom apartments, each with a different layout offering unique living arrangements. 6 of the apartments are entered via the original communal William Leiper entrance hallway with the remaining 6 enjoying their own main door entrances.
Each apartment hosts a fully integrated kitchen by Porcelanosa, which if buyers reserve early in the build process, can be fully tailored to their taste. All bathrooms and en-suites are also finished with luxurious Porcelanosa tiles and sanitaryware.
Six of the apartments enjoy private garden spaces although Braeholm is set in beautiful garden grounds with plenty of communal outdoor space for all to enjoy.
In short – yes!!
We aim to deliver homes that tick every box on a buyers list. That could mean options such as wallpaper by Harlequin, paint by Farrow & Ball, designer light fittings, hardwood flooring, boiling kitchen taps or a state of the art sound system. Everyone’s idea of a perfect home is unique and we absolutely encourage our buyers to collaborate with us to create their dream home.
The development ranges from £165,000 – £350,000, the front 4 apartments are anticipated to be ready for move in prior to Christmas, with the remaining 8 having anticipated completion in Spring 2019.
