No Plans for September Weekend? How About a DIY Project…
September weekend is fast approaching and if you don’t have any plans, how about taking on some cheap and easy DIY jobs to improve your home. Here are our picks of the easiest and most cost effective jobs you can do around the home.
Freshen up your room with paint
You’ll be amazed what a lick of paint can do for a living room, hallway or kitchen. Although it can be a messy job, it’s one of the simplest things you can do and you can even get the family involved in helping you. If you only do one room, make it the hallway as there will be less furniture to move and you’ll create a great first impression when visitors come to your home.
Have a clear out
The loft, garage and shed can become a dumping ground. Take a bit of time out to sort out these areas and get rid of anything you no longer need. You could even sell them on eBay or Gumtree and make some bank holiday money!
Clean your soft furnishings
Sofas, carpets, rugs, curtains and cushions should all have a regular clean and you can hire professional machines by the day to do this yourself. Following a deep clean, carpets can often look as good as new.
Breathe life into your old kitchen
You don’t have to buy a new kitchen to give it a fresh new look. There are paints available that allow you to freshen up the cupboard doors, and you could even swap the handles for something more on-trend.
There’s something very satisfying about getting your house in order for the winter, just make sure you use the right tools for the job and don’t start something you can’t finish!
