Clyde Property Ayr 2018 – A Surge in Demand from Buyers and Renters
During 2018, here at Clyde Property Ayr we noticed a surge in demand from buyers for out of town properties along with a staggering demand for rental property. Everything from cute cottages to large country houses with land were in high demand. Some of the listings that multiple buyers were competing for included Carnview Springs at Stair, Duisk Lodge at Barrhill, Woodhead House at Sorn, and High Moorston at Dailly.
In many cases buyers had to compete to win their dream property and it was interesting that a substantial number were re-locating from south of the border. Conversely, we had some really quirky properties close to Ayr town centre that also proved popular – for example, Clyde Cottage, a spacious lower conversion with original art deco features; and one of the oldest and most unusual properties in town, a former brewery in Eglinton Place, was snapped up. Currently available is North Lodge in Mauchline – a unique one bedroom gate house and what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in character! Last year we noticed a continued demand for renovation projects and saw one buyer turn a house around in a matter of weeks and go on to achieve more than double the original purchase price.
Lettings
Lorraine and Rachel have seen 2018 as another extremely busy and successful year, the demand for letting property has been nothing less than staggering. The steady growth that marked the beginning of the year has continued right through with an even more robust performance than the year before. With the number of potential tenants outweighing the property available, landlords are able to pick the most suitable tenant for their property and this was often the one looking to rent for longer. Properties continuing to be the most popular in the area are 2 bedroom flats, especially those that are well presented.
A new trend has seen a movement of families to the area in search of larger family homes often due to a desire to try before they buy. An example of this is a 3 bed bungalow which was snapped up within a week with a rental of £1200 PCM, a factor in such cases can be the proximity of a school of choice. Going forward we predict the demand will continue to remain steady for 2019. If you’re thinking of a move feel free to contact our lettings team 01292 262777.
