Clyde Property Helensburgh – April Property Roundup
Clyde Property Helensburgh had an exceptional April with no sign of Brexit affecting buyer confidence. The branch had no less than six closing dates in the month of April. One of the properties we recently sold, Kymel House, was on the market with an agent for three years and came to Clyde Property in February of this year. We had an offer accepted on the property within a month of advertising. Here are some highlights:
East Clyde Street
Under Offer – Sold at Closing Date
Commanding one of Helensburgh’s most sought after locations, right on the waterfront of the Firth of Clyde, “Shoreland” is a stone built attached bungalow that was formed from the conversion of the original Alexander Greek Thomson mansion house. The property dates from the late 1800’s and sits amidst glorious mature, level and beautifully presented gardens. There is a sheltered patio and extensive lawns at the rear sweeping down to the water’s edge and enjoying all day long sunshine together with some of the best views in Helensburgh along the shore towards the town. On entering the property from East Clyde Street, a twin stone pillared gateway leads to a gravelled circular driveway that accesses the house. To the front of the property there is a substantial double garage (electric roller doors) with adjoining bin and wood stores and additional store. The gardens on this side of the house feature extensive, well stocked beds with plants, bushes and shrubs in abundance. The interior of the property extends to over 2100 square feet and combines a delightful mix of period features with a contemporary specification.
Kymel House, Upper Carman Road, Renton
“Kymel” is a striking and imposing stone built detached Victorian villa that sits in an elevated position at the end of a long lane, backing onto mature woodland and with fantastic views from the upper rooms over the surrounding area. With its semi-rural setting, yet being close to the wide range of amenities found in and around Dumbarton and Balloch, this exceptional family home features many delightful period features and offers impressive accommodation laid over its three floors. The property has been cleverly adapted to provide a self-contained two bedroom flat on the first floor with its own separate access to the side of the building. The flat would allow potential buyers the versatility to use it as a holiday let or granny flat accommodation. As the flat is accessed by a single door from the first floor landing, the flat accommodation can easily be integrated into the main house. The property is surrounded by extensive gardens that offer a large parking area to the front, extremely private grounds to the rear that feature patios, a decked terrace, lawns and bedded borders.
Torwoodhill Road, Rhu, Argyll & Bute
Under Offer – Sold at Closing in Under Two Weeks, Exceeding Home Report Value
Built in 1837, “Torbaan” is an imposing and elegant detached residence that commands splendid views south across extensive gardens to the Firth of Clyde and the entrance to the Gare Loch. The house is category B listed, being a building of architectural interest and historical note. Over the years, the smaller original Victorian house was significantly reconfigured with the construction, on the east, of a grand extension of large rooms in the 1860s. The current owners added an extension to the west side of the house in 2002. This comprises a beautifully designed two level garage. The house now offers around 4800 square feet of accommodation and is laid out over three floors, all impeccably presented having been comprehensively and sympathetically renovated by the current owners over the past few years.
