What Are Buyers Looking For?
Recent research from Zoopla has revealed what buyer and renters are look for from a new home. By looking at the portal’s advanced property search tool over the last 12 months, the portal can reveal the most searched-for terms to give an insight into what buyers and renters are looking for. It has been revealed that ‘garden’ was the top feature that both renters and buyers were looking for. This, and other popular search terms, appear to reflect the impact of the pandemic.
Along with ‘garden’ the terms ‘detached, ‘rural’ and ‘secluded’ were all in the top 10 keywords used when searching for a new home.
Renters appear to be seeking a home with a balcony, with this search term coming fourth on the list along with ‘rural’ which featured in the top 10. In addition, renters and buyers highlighted the importance of having a garage with the property.
It also appears that balconies are rising in popularity with this search term also making the top 10 for the second year in a row. Annexe is also another popular term, perhaps reflecting the new normal of working from home or wanting family to form a ‘bubble’.
As we came out of lockdown in June, it appears that people have re-evaluated what they want from their homes. As a result, people want more outside space, extra inside space for home working, and a move to more rural areas.
