Give Your Bedroom a Boutique Makeover

Our bedroom is often our sanctuary and a place that we retreat to when the stresses of life get too much. If you’re ever visited a boutique hotel, you’ll know how they give you charm, comfort and luxury. There are some key elements you can add to make your own bedroom a place that you love.

Classic contrasting

Invest in some quality bed linen to give your bedroom a hotel-feel. Contrast whites or soft pink with darker tones such as charcoal, green or dark blue for an elegant feel. Make sure you choose a bedding set with a high thread count – although this is a bigger outlay initially, you’ll find that the high quality of the linen will give it longevity and reduce any chance of bobbling.

Walls

Panelling has risen in popularity over the last few years, and this is a great way to add interest to a wall without having to use bold colours or patterns that can date. Pair white bedding with a feature panelled wall in a soft dove grey or sage green for a classic feel.

Budget bedroom

Just because you’re on a budget, it doesn’t mean that you can’t carry out a luxury bedroom makeover. Even if you have a plain bed frame, you can add features around this such as a panelled wall (which you can buy pre-made), shelving instead of bedside tables, mirrors to increase the sense of light and space and fairy lights to add atmosphere. Shop around in budget stores such as Dunelm, Ikea and B&M for items that look expensive but are still on-point when you’re on a tight budget.

Don’t be afraid to be different

You don’t have to stick to a classic theme with soft, contrasting colours – there’s nothing to stop you going bold and quirky. You could have a traditional Victorian feel with classic patterned fabric and luxurious velvet. Using a bold colour scheme, you can provide a modern contrast turning a traditional bedroom into something more special.

Scandi minimalism

By adopting a Scandi theme, not only will your bedroom be clutter free and full of clean, sharp lines, it will also be great for the pocket. Choose minimal pale wood, white and pale grey with crisp white bed linen. This will give your bedroom a chic city feel.
