Shawlands, located a mere 2 miles south of Glasgow's City centre, is regularly regarded as the central hub of Glasgow's South Side.

Shawlands has carved a reputation as a vibrant cosmopolitan setting favoured by professionals and young families and offers an impressive selection of Victorian tenements and sandstone terraced properties. In tune with the prevailing demographic, the area boasts an array of bars, restaurants, coffee shops and independent retailers catering for all tastes and age groups. Living locally in Shawlands

Moving outwards from Shawlands, the South side of Glasgow extends into the highly sought after suburbs of Newlands, Pollokshields, Langside and Cathcart. Thus revealing a diverse range of family housing stock ranging from affordable semi and detached properties to some of the finest examples of classical and neo gothic villas. Acting as a peaceful haven for growing families and served with an array of local amenties and attractions, such leafy suburbs continue to expand and grow in popularity.

In line with Glasgow's Gaelic translation, 'dear green place', the Southside is particularly well served by a number of internationally renowned parks. Most notably, Pollok Country Park which houses the world famous Burrell collection and the equally impressive Queens Park which offers a delightful recreational setting. As modern lifestyles dictate, the extended area offers the opportunity to pursue multiple recreational pursuits with a number of reputable golf clubs in close proximity. Furthermore, additional leisure activities and shopping opportunities can be explored within the Silverburn and Braehead retail complexes.

The areas we cover

Shawlands is popular district in the southside of Glasgow, located less than two miles south of the RIver Clyde, with a population of approx 8,000 people. Shawlands Academy which has just undergone extensive renovation and now has a new Glasgow Specialist Language Centre.

Shawlands has excellent transport links with railway stations at Shawlands, Pollokshaws East and Crossmyloof. There is regular bus service into Glasgow City Centre.

Battlefield is a district in Glasgow, situated south of the River Clyde. The area includes the landmark of Glasgow's old Victoria Infirmary which is in the process of being converted into a new development. There is also Glasgow Clyde College, Langside Library and Queens Park.

The Southside Fringe is an annual event and the Farmers Market, which is held every two weeks, is very popular.

Langside is a popular leafy conservation area of the Southside.

There is good road and rail links with trains departing at Langside Train Station on a regular basis into Glasgow City Centre.

Over the last couple of years there has been conversion of the old Rawcliffe Estate into an sought after estate for residents. Church on the Hill and the Ivory Hotel remain popular favourites for Food and Drink.

Strathbungo is a beautiful conservation area and is on one of the main arteries of Pollokshaws Road which is just south from the City Centre.

There are many popular restaurants including The Bungo and The Mulberry. The local residents in the area often have local events including Bungo at the Bells and Bungo in the Back Lanes.

Pollokshields has a population of 21,299 and is another beautiful Victorian conservation area in the South side of Glasgow. Shawlands Academy and Hutcheson Grammar School - both highly praised schools are in the area.

There are three functioning railway stations in Pollokshields - Maxwell Park, Pollokshields East and Polloksheilds West Train Stations and easy links to M77, M8 and M74.

Since then she has attained the position of Senior Sales Negotiator, and advanced to the position of Area Manager at Clyde Property. To add to her wealth of experience in Sales she has since developed a strong understanding of the Letting side of Estate Agency, including advising clients wishing to invest in the buoyant Buy-to-Let market. Joyce exercises a positive manner and has a strong passion for her profession, and having resided in the Giffnock area for over 35 years, has an extensive local knowledge of the Southside. She thrives on her ability to advise vendors and purchasers alike, and successfully negotiate the right results for her clients whether it be Sales or Letting. Craig's career began with Clyde Property in March 2016 when he joined the Technical Compliance Team within our Clarkston Letting Management Centre. It was here that his love and passion for the industry was discovered and he was soon promoted to Letting Negotiator, making the move to the Byres Road office located in Glasgow's West End. In April 2018 Craig was further promoted to Area Letting Manager within our Clarkston branch an. After a short successful term in Clarkston, August 2018 saw Craig's role expand again as he stepped up to become Area Letting Valuer covering both West End and Shawlands. Having lived locally all his life Craig has an excellent local knowledge which allows him to provide accurate and invaluable advice to both landlords and tenants alike. Craig prides himself on his levels of customer service, ensuring that each client's individual needs are met at all times and to that end he has recently obtained his Association of Residential Letting Agents Qualification (ARLA).
