Staying Safe During Viewings

At Clyde Property we are working during this current lockdown as all aspects of the property market remain open. Our aim is to keep the market moving in a safe way. To this end, we are working to strict government guidelines to keep everyone safe during this time.

Speculative viewings are not permitted and using HD Property Video, detailed brochure content and floorplans, only serious buyers who have familiarised themselves with the property and likely to make an offer are undertaking physical viewings of homes.

If you are viewing a property during this lockdown there are five things you must ask the agent – whether it’s Clyde Property or another local agent – in order to keep yourself, your agent and the vendor safe.

Can I virtually view a property?

Most agents have adapted to our new normal and offer a virtual tour of homes. This is an ideal way to familiarise yourself with the property, layout and location before viewing in person. You should have a good idea if it meets your requirements – if you have doubts and there are ‘deal breakers’ such as the number of bedrooms, location or condition of the property we advise that you carefully consider a viewing. All Clyde Property homes have a HD Property Video and detailed brochure.

Is it safe?

As a matter of course we will ask vendor if they or any member of their household, colleagues or bubble have displayed symptoms in the last two weeks. However, this should apply to all properties you view regardless of the agent. By the same token, if you or any member of your household has symptoms you must not attend a physical viewing.

Who can attend?

The guidance states that no more than two households can be inside the property including the estate agent. Therefore, we do not recommend that you bring someone with you, and we ask that small children do not attend.

PPE

Check beforehand whether your estate agent will be providing PPE – during this time it’s advisable that you always carry a face mask and hand sanitiser.

Minimise the time at the property

Try and view the property without asking the agent questions. It is advisable that you save these for afterwards or even before the viewing when you can discuss details so that you spend as little time as possible in the property.

Advice for sellers

When viewers have been in your home, they will have worn PPE and avoided touching surfaces. We recommend that before and after the viewing you open windows to improve ventilation, leave all internal doors open so that no one touches the handles and as an extra precaution sanitise handles and surfaces. Finally, you should not be in the property during the viewing.
